Sunday's New York Times had an interesting piece about the surge in voter registrations among black voters. After the disenfranchisement of African Americans in Florida last time around, when three times as many black voters as white voters were purged from the registration records, black Americans nationwide are determined to make sure their votes are counted this time. It doesn't necessarily mean all those votes will go to Kerry--especially when you consider that Gore was so lily-livered about recounting ALL the votes in African American districts. But I'm taking it as a hopeful sign.
