War is never respectful of human life, but in Iraq, children are paying an especially heavy price. Since the U.S. invasion of that country began almost two years ago, acute malnutrition has increased significantly among Iraqi children under the age of 5. In fact, Iraq has a higher rate of child malnutrition than Uganda and Haiti. The cause? Dirty, contaminated water and the lack of electricity to boil the water and and thus purify it.
