THE VOTES HAVE NOT BEEN COUNTED YET, but Iraq's interim president has decided: The U.S. occupation will continue.

"It's complete nonsense to ask the troops to leave in this chaos and this vacuum of power," Yawer said at a news conference today. "By the end of this year, we could see the number of foreign troops decreasing."

Who is this "we" Yawer is talking about? Ohhhhhh... yeah. Yawer, Allawi, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and the president ... of the United States.

So much for democracy and national sovereignty.
