WE INTERRUPT our regularly scheduled blogging to share this personal news: I have accepted an offer for my house from a buyer. I got 3 offers, and this one is $6,000 above the asking price. I signed the contract tonight.

I am told the buyers are "very excited" about the news that their offer was accepted. I, on the other hand, am very, very blue. I am so sad. I don't know why it is that people get so attached to houses. They're not alive. But leaving this house will be heartwrenching for me. I'd give anything if I didn't have to do it.

Now I just hope I can find a 1- or 2-bedroom apartment I can afford.
