"Scooter" Libby Was Cooper's Second Source

So the Bushies have been lying through their teeth for two years when they said neither Libby nor Rove spoke to reporters about Valerie Plame's identity, or had anything to do with telling the press that she had covert status at the C.I.A.

The current issue of Time reports that Libby -- Cheney's chief of staff -- was Matt Cooper's second source for his article revealing the fact (the first press report after Novak's column was published) that Valerie Plame was employed by the C.I.A. as a covert agent, and that she is married to Joseph Wilson.

And curiously enough, the White House's willingness for the past two years to respond to reporters' questions about the involvement of senior administration staff in exposing Plame's identity ended, quite abruptly, at the exact moment when it became known that Rove had spoken to reporters. Now, all of a sudden, Scott McClellan can't answer reporters' questions because "there's an ongoing investigation."
