Compromise, Honesty, and Consistency

The Senate is balking at Arlen Specter's "compromise" bill on warrantless electronic surveillance.

Pres. Bush, after some initial hemming and hawing, has decided to be completely honest about thumbing his nose at the Supreme Court.

Elana Levin writes that Pres. Bush has admitted having no solution to poverty. Actually, I think Bush takes the same approach to solving poverty that he takes to solving terrorism: Fighting the problem with more of the problem; i.e., the solution to terrorism is war. And the solution to poverty is making it harder for low-income students to go to college, keeping the minimum wage flat, not expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, and repealing the Estate Tax.
