White House Forbids Former Government Official To Publish Op-Ed Calling for Talks with Iran

Flynt Leverett is a former NSC (National Security Council) staffer who now works for the New America Foundation. He wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times on the need for diplomatic initiatives with Iran, in order to get Iran’s help in ending the violence in Iraq. The piece was vetted by the CIA; it contains no classified information. Nevertheless, the White House is blocking its publication.

Think Progress broke this story – but since the site will not load for me right now, I’m going to link to Maha’s very comprehensive report.
