Crooks and Liars has a video of John McCain telling Tim Russert that the "military operation" (the start of the war, through the overthrow of Saddam) in Iraq was easy, and that Americans were greeted as liberators.

First of all, as John asks, Easy for whom?

As for being greeted as liberators, sure we were greeted as liberators -- until we started acting like occupiers, which started as soon as Jay Garner was replaced by Paul Bremer, on May 11, 2003.

But then, as Steve Benen notes, "Everything after May 2003 doesn't count" for John McCain.
