A Presidents Day Call: Impeach Pres. Bush

UPDATE: Joe Conason has a related article in the current Salon. The article is an excerpt from Conason's new book, It Can Happen Here: Authoritarian Peril in the Age of Bush.

Bush, on Presidents Day:

"Today, we're fighting a new war to defend our liberty and our people and our way of life," said Bush, standing in front of Washington's home and above a mostly frozen Potomac River.

"And as we work to advance the cause of freedom around the world, we remember that the father of our country believed that the freedoms we secured in our revolution were not meant for Americans alone."

Oh yeah? Here is the freedom advanced by the father of our country and his co-founders.

Here are some of the ways in which Pres. Bush and his colleagues advance "the cause of freedom around the world," including the advancement of our founders' belief that "the freedoms we secured in our revolution were not meant for Americans alone."

George W. Bush is a liar. He is no friend to democracy or freedom, either here in the United States or anywhere else in the world. George W. Bush has, in fact, subverted almost every freedom that George Washington and his contemporaries fought for, struggled for, and worked for. Ideologically, George W. Bush has more in common with George III than with George Washington. He has violated his oath of office almost too many times to count. Congress needs to employ the tool given to us by the Constitution for dealing with a POTUS who becomes a tyrant: impeachment.
