John McCain Walks "Freely" Through a Baghdad Neighborhood -- and Yes, There's A Catch

John McCain is too pathetic a fool not to evoke some sympathy. Yesterday, he walked through an open-air market in Baghdad to "prove" that he was right when he told Bill Bennett on the latter's radio show that "there are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today."
At a press conference afterward, McCain responded to a reporter's question about this claim:
Reporter: You said that there are areas in Baghdad where you can walk around freely--
McCain: Yeah, I just came from one.
Of course, McCain did not add that he walked "freely" through that market surrounded by 100 armed American soldiers, and with Blackhawk helicopters and Apache gunships hovering directly overhead, and wearing a bullet-proof vest.
NBC correspondent Tom Aspell remarked that with that level of protection, "even Paris Hilton could ride a bicycle in a bikini through Anbar province.”
