Morale

In January 1962, I was approaching a discharge from my first enlistment from the U.S. Navy. Then, President Kennedy involuntarily extended everyone's enlistment for three months. Morale breaker, yes. Pissed off, you bet. So, when I read Steve Benen's piece, I can relate.

Extension of tours in a combat zone is not only a morale breaker, it causes a very high percent of people to decide not to re-enlist.
