U.S. Roads & Trucks - Update

I must admit that there are a lot of large trucks on U.S. roads. In the western part of the country, semis can pull two trailers behind them. That is why I have some concern with this news piece at Yahoo!

Safety is one concern. Especially the safety of those in passenger vehicles. But also is the concern of how the Bush administration is looking out for our welfare.

The Transportation Department welcomed the decision and said in a statement that allowing more direct shipments from Mexico will benefit U.S. consumers.

It is so endearing that they are concerned about our pocketbook.

All is not lost, however.
Public Citizen and the Teamsters still plan to proceed with a lawsuit they filed in federal court, challenging the Mexican truck program on broader grounds. That case will not likely be decided until next year.

Maybe the court will find in favor of the public, next time.

It really doesn't make any difference if one is from 'red' Idaho or 'blue' Massachusetts, this is not in the best interest of any U.S. citizen.
