No More State-Sanctioned Killing in New Jersey

I am a New Jerseyan. And today I am even more proud than I usually am to tell people that I live in New Jersey. Because today -- or rather, yesterday, but I found out today -- New Jersey became the first state in the United States in forty years to ban the death penalty. Technically, the bill is not law yet, because although the New Jersey legislature has passed it, Gov. Corzine has not yet signed it. But he will, very shortly. And when he does, my state will have yet one more reason to celebrate how blessed we are to live in a state as progressive and forward-thinking as this one is.

I love New Jersey.
