AS OF TODAY, 1,036 people have been confirmed dead as a result of Katrina. This is for all three states that took the hit: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Eighty percent of those deaths are in Louisiana. And there's still another four to six weeks of body recovery work ahead, according to the Coast Guard.
