Visiting Teacher of Chinese

Above the fold of today's edition of the Piqua Daily Call in Piqua, Ohio, is the picture of a teacher in the classroom with the headline "East Meets West: Chinese isn't foreign to PHS visiting instructor." And I thought, "Wow, that sure is neat. This reddest of red Republican areas has the foresight to teach the language of the next generation to high school and junior high students."

Then I read down and find out that the teacher's salary is being paid for by the Chinese government and that "the program is a collaborative effort of the Ohio Department of Education and the Chinese government."

I guess that it really is too much to expect Republicans to have foresight.
