J. Scott Smith has written a stunning essay on the human cost of war. At last, someone has said, in print, what has needed to be said since this unprovoked invasion began:
- The United States government is responsible for more (a lot more) civilian casualties in Iraq than Saddam Hussein was responsible for--even by the U.S. government's reckoning--in the past 10 years before this war; and
- Bush's total indifference to the bloody and gruesome deaths of so many innocent people makes a mockery of his vaunted "pro-life" stance.
