The overwhelming majority of insurgents in Iraq are Iraqis. Very few are foreigners. So says Gen. George Casey, the "top U.S. ground commander in Iraq," a discovery he and his fellow commanders made after interrogating the 1,000-plus insurgents captured in the invasion of Fallujah. Casey and his colleagues say they are mostly Sunnis who worked in Saddam Hussein's former regime and are still loyal to Hussein's government. My feeling is, the longer this U.S. occupation and assault on Iraqi cities goes on, the more such loyal former government employees U.S. troops will find.
