THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE COUNCIL says that Iraq is the latest and greatest breeding ground for terrorists. The NIC is a think tank run by the Director of the CIA, and the report it released yesterday warned that Iraq has become a training hub for terrorists from all over the world. This was not the case before the U.S. invasion; Saddam Hussein had only casual ties with Al Qaeda; and Osama bin Laden refused to work with Hussein because OBL considered Hussein hostile to radical Islam and disapproved of his secularist regime in Iraq.

The NIC report further predicts that by the year 2020, Al Qaeda will be only one of many terrorist organizations, and probably not the leading organization anymore. Other terrorist groups have already coalesced since the war in Iraq began, and are showing signs even now of overtaking Al Qaeda in significance and influence in the world of terrorism.

Good job, George! Guess the invasion of Iraq WAS worth it -- for Al Qaeda, etc., that is.
