NO, VIRGINIA, there are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. But that does not mean Pres. Bush is apologetic that the centerpiece of his argument for invading Iraq was false. Although the war in Iraq has taken the lives of about 1,300 Americans and seriously injured and/or disabled thousands more; although the U.S. bombing and the postwar violence has killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis; and although the U.S. has spent tens of billions of dollars in Iraq and is continuing to spend billions more every month there, when asked by Barbara Walters (on an ABC interview that will be televised Friday evening) whether the invasion of Iraq was "worth it" despite the failure to find any weapons of mass destruction, Pres. Bush replied, "Oh, absolutely."
