AFTER READING THE NEWS this morning, I was all set to blog about the worst single act of violence in Iraq since Saddam Hussein was arrested. I wrestled with how I was going to approach it. Since I am beginning to feel like I just can't deal with this horror anymore, I thought, Maybe I'll talk about Robert Jay Lifton and his concept of psychic numbing. Or maybe I'd mention some of the ghastly details, like the fact that the blast was so powerful it almost vaporized the suicide bomber's car.

But in the end I decided I just can't handle reality anymore. Right now I'd rather read about the secret mental life of cows.
