Lucky

I am a lucky person. Why? Specifically, I cannot say. Probably the confluence of several seemingly unrelated and some related events.

My parents came of age during The Great Depression. They taught me perseverance.

I was lucky enough to have retired before my job was outsourced.

I have seen and been to most of the glamorous places on the earth courtesy of the U.S. Navy.

I am satisfied with ‘simple’ things. I let the grass grow to 7–8 inches just so I can feel the lush grass, covered with dew, on my bare feet late at night. When peaches are in season, I eat an unbelievable amount of fresh, just-picked peaches. Same with fresh cantaloupe.

I have good health insurance via Medicare and my retired Navy health insurance, Tricare For Life.

And, I am lucky to have Kathy as a good friend who allows me to post on Liberty Street.

Chief, what a lovely post. Thank you. And of course you know I feel the same way.

Yes, I'm with you. I think simplicity is the way to peace and joy.
